Abstract

The study aimed to identify factors for students to choose social science major. The methodology research was used by quantitative method. The sample used in this study was six high schools which located in three districts/towns. These samples were 300 students studying in grade 11 to 12. The result of this study was shown that factors of students' choosing social science major was the interest in the subject for students’ personality factor (internal factor) which was the highest percentage (18%). Among them, the need for study, the need for learning various skills and the need for work were the internal factor which was the highest percentage. In addition to curriculum and examination factors, the factor influencing the choice of a social science major was 18% for rich in research documents.
